Having an ocular emergency?
We always give special consideration to those having ocular emergencies such as pain, redness, sudden vision loss and new floating spots and flashing lights. If a doctor is in the office, you will be seen the same day. When a time cannot be arranged, our front desk staff may recommend you go to a walk in clinic or the emergency room, depending on the nature of your emergency. After clinic hours, we always advise our patients having ocular emergencies to consult their local hospital emergency room.
Same Day Lens Replacements
Lens replacements are available on the same day for all single vision glasses. Lens replacements which require additional features such as Transitions or Blue Light protection may be available depending on prescription and time of request. The price of the lens replacements are for Aspheric lenses which include an anti-reflective coating for glare elimination and a scratch resistant coating to reduce the amount of scratches that accumulate on the lenses. Please contact us by phone or email for more specific questions regarding your lenses.
The eyes take in the information which is processed by our brain, and reproduces the images that we see. The glasses we make serve two purposes.
- The improvement of visual acuity
Eyeglass lenses are curved pieces of glass and plastic. The curvature of the lens bends the light rays as they approach your eye. This helps the rays focus on your retina, instead of behind or in front of it.
There are two main types of lenses used in eye glasses or contacts. Convex lenses, curve in slightly, are used for nearsighted people. This bends the light towards the bottom and top of the lens, thus pushing the focal point back towards the retina. Farsighted individuals need a concave lens. The light that passes through a concave lens is bent towards the center, pushing the focal point forward. The goal of the correction is to have the focal point hit the retina exactly where it should for ideal vision. The degree of the lens’s curve changes with the strength of the prescription. - The relief of tired eyes (Reduce Eye Strain)
The vision which appears unclear while driving or reading the newspaper is a symptom of eye strain. It is the mild unbalanced state of visual function has occurred becomes a burden on the brain. There are four types of eyestrain that can be improved with glasses.
- Visibility Eyestrain
Vision does not match the viewing environment and the lens power and the lens type. - Regulatory Eyestrain
Over-correction of myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism, presbyopia uncorrected. - Muscle Asthenopia
Unbalance the cause of phoria and fusion of congestion - Aniseikonia and Asthenopia
The difference in the size of the retinal image of the left and right
In order to try to see clearly in both eyes, the brain performs regulatory efforts unconsciously and has been said to be tired easily. Just the normal visual acuity measurement cannot detect whether this mild state of imbalance is occurring.
Therefore, at Community Eye Care, to suit each and every viewing environment, from four perspectives (vision / regulatory / binocular vision / congestion-divergence) and its relationship to you so that it is not a burden to the brain.
Adjustment Techniques:
When the glasses have not been adjusted to the correct position, this results in blurring or frequency error which becomes a burden to the brain causing a sense of discomfort. In particular, non-spherical lens design, in order to exert its lens performance is essential to each person in the match adjustment technique (fitting).
